Welcome
Today I am going to tell you how to begin to create a decoration like the one shown here which is a beautiful piece that can be put on the top of the “box cakes”
Well I should have begun with this. Describing what an English Style is -my beloved sugarcrafting. It is a modern way to decorate a cake with plastic dough but that’s not all. A lot of typical English recipes promote marzipan. Nevertheless it doesn’t give us a wide range of possibilities unlike sugar dough. Marzipan certainly tastes a whole lot better but we won’t get a beautiful blue color or powder pink out of it. Marzipan itself, is slightly creamy in color, so any warm color is doable. It is a great stuff to make little figures of, though it is not suitable for bigger creations. It is better to use a dough with CMC.
Hello again, as promised in the last article, I would like to share my knowledge on the appropriate amount of dough needed to cover a cake . Here we have the measurements.
Hello again – today I wanted to show you how to cover a cake with a fondant.
We need to prepare a cake, a non-stick rolling pin -I use a marble one, an appropriate amount of sugar dough (in the next article you will find a helpful listing of the exact amounts of sugar dough that is required for each cake.)
I think that every enthusiastic beginner has a similar problem to distinguish all those strange sounding words. I will try to help you out with understanding them and when or what to use. I’d like to mention that majority of those words are in English. I think that many of you have tried to search for information on the English Style subject and had trouble with understanding them. In most cases those are either British or American words that sometimes mean the same. I have spent a lot of time trying to put everything together. To save you time I recommend looking through my article. You will see it’s not that complicated.
CMC, Fondand, gumpaste- what are they?
Sugarpaste, rolled fondant, fondant- it’s all the same. It is a plastic sugar dough which is used for covering the cakes, pies and special plates on which they stand. It is also suitable for making little figures.
